Living in NYC

Fall 1997: Uptown Manhattan. Graffiti on the streets.... interesting.

A cemetery near the financial district. Wished I had a pair of leather boots then and I could try the polishing service.

Fall 1997: Statue of Liberty

Winter 1997: An open-air skating rink in the Central Park. I set my skating record here for skating for a straight 5 hrs.

Times Square on a rainy night

Fall 1997: I watched a match between the Yankees and the Blue Jays at the Yankees Stadium.

Fall 1997: This is where I buy my coffee and bagels with cream cheese for breakfast just before class. Bagels were hard and cold, but it went well with hot coffee. A must-have before boring lectures!

Fall 1997: Huge pumpkins!!! Halloween was coming!

Fall 1997: Colours of the autumn. This is the only tree that has turned yellow.

Fall 1997: The entrance to a subway station, my main mode of transport. It is very convenient. However, it might be very eerie to be taking it at night as the stations were huge and complex. Sometimes, I had to walk underground from one part of the station to another part which was total deserted. Scary.

Fall 1997: Skyline of Manhatten from a cruise. The World Trade Centre was part of the skyline at that time.

My Brazilian room-mate, Ana. We lost touch too. Perhaps, it was really difficult to keep in contact as she does not speak much English. I did learn a few lines of Portuguese from her though.

My American-born-Korean room-mate of 1 month. 2 years younger than me. Wonder how she is now. We lost touch after sometime.

My room was actually a suite that came with a kitchen. Cool rite?

TV and couch in my hotel room. I watch anything except for pay-tv. Talk-show like Jerry Springer show which we don't have here in Singapore was an eye-opener for me. Haha, even though the show was junk, I still watched it, because I am always surprised by the absurd happenings on the show.

Here's the hotel lobby of Dumont Hotel on 34th Street where I stayed for the four months in Manhattan. Lucky yah? The school ran out of hostel rooms so they put us up here! Fantastic room service daily!!

Fall 1997: Stern Business School of New York University, located right at the heart of Manhattan.

Fall 1997: The Hope Garden
